it's fall. Let's have some comfy /vr/ stories, please!

>Early November of 1999
>live in a quite mountain village, somewhere in Europe
>Saturday morning, 8am
>since I'm only 9 years old, I'm awake early
>sit on my window sill and play Pokemon Blue, which came out the month before
>extremely foggy outside (pic related)
>Catch a few Pokemon in the safari zone
>decide to go outside for a bit, maybe some of the other kids are up already
>meet my best friend, who was on his way to my place
>we hang out at the playground, trading Pokemon, battling and talking about the TV show until it's noon
>smoke clears a bit but it starts to rain
>head over to my place to play some Harvest Moon on SNES
>raining outside
>raining inside the game
>mom made hot chocolate
>no care in the world but video games

Maximum dream cozy mode achieved, life rarely got as comfy as it was back when I was 9 years old.

Share your comfy /vr/ stories.

>Winter day in 1990's New Zealand
>Played every single copied Commodore 64 game I own, many to completion
>Probably 200+ cracked games on floppies
>Bored, ask dad for more games
>Dad calls his mate from work
>Comes home an hour later, throws me a bag of lollies and a packet of chips
>"Thanks, dad!" - but a little sad I see no games
>"Oh, the games are on the table"
>Rush out, two full disk holders of games, maybe 100 disks
>Best day ever, so many new games and a few working copies of games I already had that never worked.

Fall in love with Bubble Bobble, Defender of the Crown, Bionic Commando, etc.

>Probably 200+ cracked games on floppies
The times when we played everything, regardless of quality... When I got my hands on the first GBA Goodset in 2002 or 2003 I also played each and every single game, even the Japanese ones I couldn't even understand.
>>

why do you keep talking about the rain
i think you like the rain more than video games

Not him but there's nothing comfier than playing vidya inside on a rainy day. Wrapped up on the couch with some cocoa. Or in bed reading comics.

OP was probably just trying to set the mood.
>>
>Winter Break, 3 days after Christmas 1996
>Northeastern United States, snowing outside
>friends come over to play vidya
>Just got a Saturn for Christmas, my buddy got an N64
>We play and finish NiGHTS that night
>Parents are sitting on the couch behind us watching us
>Looking back that memory would have made a great beer commercial
>>
>friend sleeps over for the night
>wake up the next morning
>turn on mario kart 64 in the basement
>park wario on the train tracks in kalamari desert and crank the volume
>go upstairs to eat munchkins and O.J. parents had left for us
>listen to wario getting #btfo by the train and laughing our asses off
>>
>really hot day in 1992 Florida
>father in jail for drug running since mid 80s
>uncle recently shot by police in drug scheme
>want to play games on my NES (too poor for SNES)
>mom says no we need to put up shutters
>Hurricane Andrew hits as a category 5
>that night frightened for my life as my roof collapses
>NES found on porch damaged
>most my games missing and never found

Y-You too. Comfy, y-yeah...

Not particularly "comfy," but whatever:

Go to Grandmother's house on Christmas Eve. Get imported (Japanese) Pokemon Gold...
HOLY SHIT THIS GAME THAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR FOR FOREVER IS HERE

Also lying down on the very white carpet of my grandmother's house as I played Wario Land on the GameBoy without a care in the world.

>My friend's 10th birthday in September of 2000
>He got an N64 with Ocarina of Time
>Everyone is invited, we all sit around his 13inch crt TV
>Everyone in awe as the title screen appears
>"Holy shit look at those GRAPHICS"
>friend's mother asks when we want to eat
>nobody says anything
>everybody is staring at the TV as link walks around Kokiri forest
I never had an N64 myself but this moment alone makes me feel extremely nostalgic for Ocarina of Time.

>showed disdain towards me, never figured out why
>still does, shows the same thing to my fiance
>grandma has a SNES with some games.
>Sunset riders, DKC 1 and 2, SMW, and earthbound.
>Even had some odd stuff like Lufia, Nosferatu and Oscar.
>mainly spent time with grandma since grandpa gravitated towards my other brothers.
>Always played DK 1 and 2 and Sunset riders with her
>beat sunset riders with her, never finished dkc 1 or 2.
>found the dkc1 cart with her name in marker on the back years later.
>still saves, still has our file on it.

I don't really have fall game experiences, I don't think.

I mostly remember playing GB in a backseat, a lot of Mario Land 2 and Pokemon Trading Card Game and Mario Tennis and Link's Awakening.

>>
>>3561763
Good for you since life for me was never comfy we were to many people on too little housing space and was living on a street where there was no kids my age.
The ones I met later stole things, broke things, and treated me like shit because they found it fun.
>>
>>3563938
Where and when did you grow up?
>>
>>3563979
I was born right after the collapse of the Soviet Union living in a small town somewhere in eastern europe.
Ive lived through post-communism period of political and economic transformation also called "transition" where my parents were barely getting by,they had it rough to say the least and were living with my grandparents in their house while having two other kids.
Its all bad memories i dont want to remember.

>>
The only memories I have of those young days are the ones where I got injuried or did something stupid.

>tfw too much of a babby to have retro comfy.

Closest i ever got to some real /vr/ comfy was playing Trackmania, some random flashgame platformer where you played as a turtle and Wipeout during a fairly big storm we had in '04.
Your wouldnt think so but the techno OST of wipeout lends itself very well to snuggles at midnight during a storm.

>>

>>

Well, other than snow, yeah. I used to love playing games set in the winter or with a winter theme while it's cold, windy, and snowing outside. Alas, we all have to grow up, and now I have to work when it snows. Still have comfy memories though.
