The official port is pretty cool. It was done by fans and has a bunch of cool little features like the ability to play as Knuckles and Tails, save games, etc. It's a different engine but the physics are spot on and it's actually widescreen rather than stretched.

Sonic actually plays pretty well with touch controls. I played and beat Sonic 1 on a fucking iPod back in the day, it's easy. And the phone versions of Sonic 1, 2, and CD all support controllers anyway. So go for it. They're the single best versions of each game.

- Widescreen
- Crisp, remastered audio (proper looping for Sonic CD, higher audio fidelity on Sonic 1 & 2)
- 60 FPS for smoother graphical effects, especially in the special stages
- Extra characters (Tails in CD, Tails & Knuckles in 1 & 2)
- A new hidden level in Sonic 2
