I agree with you OP, game needs a fucking normal mode.

If anything "hard" should be called "normal" and the game lacks a real hard mode, in the likes of RE2's Nightmare difficulty in the PC version Dreamcast versions.

Fuck that dodge shit. Fuck memorizing where every enemy is. Hard mode is completely broken if you haven't played through the game multiple times, assuming you want to do that (kill Nemesis and get the fun stuff).

I never played RE 3 much as a kid but I used to have RE 2 on N64 and my cold fall nights were haunted by those things that tried to choke you from the other side of the door.

Still though I think it's a good game cause I played it a little on DreamCast.

Harder≠Better

RE2 is only considered great because RE1 was so terrible. RE2 actually had a narrative and was much more cinematic (you thought that meant better when you were 11). Unfortunately upon playing it now, you realize it's the same game twice.

RE3 has multiple ways of playing, has a better rendition of Racoon City, and a better atmosphere overall.

After a couple of hours in RE4 I felt more than satisfied with the ending of re3 and I still consider it the last of the resident evil games.

I will never play another "resient evil" game, and its ok.

But RE3 is definitely the weakest of the trilogy. Raccoon City doesn't feel like the open city it should be, as it feels more like a series of interconnected hallways akin to the opening of RE2.

Raccoon City has great atmosphere of a dead city, but I just don't think the gameplay captures that. Especially when you're doing a lot of the same weird puzzle solving you did in RE1 and RE2 which at least had explanations. Saying a mansion or a art gallery museum having puzzles is still ridiculous, sure, but saying Raccoon City as a whole was built by some madman puzzle guy just stretched it beyond what I think is reasonable

I always play hard mode. You do need to be careful about ammo but that is RE.

Give it a try, it will blow you away.

You have no idea how awesome RE2 can be if you haven't played Nightmare difficulty, do yourself the favour.

I wish someone would romhack a ps1 RE2 for nightmare mode values. PC release/rerelease are terrible to look at and I can't figure how to emulate the dreamcast version, winCE games seem to straight up refuse to work and those who claim that they got it to work just say "git gud".

Not sure I agree. REmake let's you know if you've cleared all of the items on each room, on the old ones if you missed ammo you did without. If you couldn't find an item you couldn't proceed with the game.
