Doesn't Dark Seed do it? I recall it was released in EU before LttP at least. Or at least it was featured in magazines before.
Considering how late games came to Europe, LttP probably came out first in Japan, but can't check the exact release dates right now.

Also Dark Seed kind of sucks. But hey, it's on-topic.

Dragon Quest 2,3, and 4 had dark worlds. Like actual through a hole in the ground or portal dark worlds.
