They're different kinds of beasts.
Manga is more for quick gratification, twenty pages with only a few dedicated to the setup.
Games on the other hand have hours of content and challenges. The H is more the icing on the cake.

First hentai I experienced was in an RPG maker game called Lunar Eve which used the titfuck, vanilla, tentacle rape, and bondage rape CGs from the 1999 VN Blood Royal.

Seasons of the Sakura was my first - the description on The Underdogs (old abandonware site) sold it as a really deep and involving game apparently.

I think my first "porn" game was this thing i found on my aunt's massive arcade games emulator on her PC. I used to play stuff like Ghost'n'Goblins and Metal Slug, but it also contained lots of obscure stuff, like this one game that would only show me a torture chamber with messed up people (no matter what button i pressed, nothing happened)

Then at some point i noticed this thing called "Gal panic" if I'm not mistaken. They still reference DK1 and 2 which is mainly revisiting Phoenix and Strawberry Fields. One oddity is that they renamed Strawberry Fields yet still refer to the original name in some places.

The series doesn't really have much continuity aside from that. The PCE port of 1 added some references of Takeru's backstory from 3 but it didn't really matter much.
In 4 the connection is pretty much a red herring.

I bought knights of xentar new off the shelf at a local game store in 1995. The retail copy was censored and you had to order the 18+ floppy disc to patch it.

I still have the mousepad that it came with.

The censorship was funny in that most of the dialog was there in both versions and just the visual were censored. Only a few sex scenes were outright blocked in the PG version. You had a dominatrix talking about using her strap-on and you still got to fuck all the girls in catgirl village. The sex scenes were just obscured and badly drawn clothing was pasted over the girls to hide their nipples.
