Hey, /vr/

Wasn't sure if this should go here or /r/, so I'll take a shot here.

I'm looking for an old Flash game that I used to play in my technology class in middle school. Had to be before 2004. The screen was white, and you made contraptions out of black lines, with wheels, axels, propellors, motors, etc.

You could make them very complex, and save them for other people to view/build on/take apart etc.

I've looked everywhere and nothing is turning up... anybody know what this game was??
>>
I have to defend "flash" as a platform any time I want to talk about retro phones so unless you're ready to fight that battle probably /r/ because I don't feel like fighting it for you.
>>
You're thinking of sodaplay.com, it's been long since shut down though

flash and pre-smartphones? what? werent mobile programs written in JAVA?

flash is too much even for today's smartphone, if youy manually download the flash apk from adobe to your android.

if it was sodaplay and no one made a copy, at least try TIM The incredible machine

nice it seems they released a new game in 2001
http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/pc/windows-games/the-incredible-machine-even-more-contraptions/

but even good old TIM3 was challenging enough, im gonna try the new one

Sounds kinda like Fantastic Contraption.

I don't know, but I saw the thumbnail and thought Tempest.

Also, seconding The Incredible Machine series. The original games, not remakes or whatnot.

yep, i havent downloaded it yet but saw a vid from the TIM 2001, flashy sound effects and object like rocket and some silly shit way to big for the screen.

tim123 even in 800x600 was awesome, the hardest ones with all kinds of gears, ropes, pulleys...

i have played some flash games in the last 15years here and there are that are worth as well, not as complex as tim, but challenging too.

couldn't recall any, but some with mathmatics, othger with lasers and mirros, there was somekind of digital logic gates and electricity thing as well.

i played them on all sorts of different sites, i only discovered newgrounds later, even tought its 20yo, but heres two cool puzzles i could find,

the first one may seem too easy on the first stages but it gets challenging at some point, the second game is lil more complex

>"flash" as a platform
man i wish i had developed the habit of saving flashgames sooner, so many independent sites gone forever along with their games.

newgrounds gives lots of 404 on old games, but you can still search pre 2005 and find some cool stuff, but i dont think everyone uploaded there on the begining, there were lots of startup the used flashgames on their own website as a form of portfolio, some sold small advantages but the microtransactions hopefully was delayed for another decade+ at the time...

todays newgrounds is mostly a cesspool of picoday,clockday,ludumdare,24hgames and all other silly shit and general flash spam, and morons cant have a 0-5 scoring system, almost everyone just does 0/1 or 4.5/5, even if the scores have descriptions to get some sort of consistency,

commom review on newgrounds: "oh its very basic, and not really fun, but ill give it 4.5 for your effort", im not autistically complaining, its that scoring should be a search filter, but filterring for 4+ returns half the content so its moot"
