If I remember correctly, the story goes that in 2085, the Robotrons succeed in destroying all humans except for you. Now you have to escape to planet Paradise and start a new civilization.

Snow Bros had two sequels, but I never hear anyone talk about them.

Space Invaders 2 had a two player competitive mode.

Gaplus is a very upgraded sequel to Galaga, and far superior in my opinion.

Joust had a sequel.

Toaplan had quite a few sequels that were abruptly forgotten about despite being based on their most successful IPs. Although in this game's case, it's pretty understandable why....
