Remember when games had terrible live action intros? I feel like it was mostly PC games, especially Command and Conquer but I also remember watching the intro the Mechwarrior IV.

They were great. The CnC ones were especially great, with Kane and Stalin. They felt like cheesy B-movies, never took themselves too seriously. I remember a great one with Tim Curry, can't remember the name of it though.
Also Malcolm McDowell in Wing Commander 4. Shit was awesome.

>terrible
you meant awesome
i miss when games were allowed to be cheese and we could have fun with the campy stuff instead of jumping to metacritic to rate it 1/10 never play again.

That or the tryhard cheesy games that keep asking you "Get it? Do you get it?"
Anyone remember testing your sound card while installing Witchaven 2: Blood Vengeance?
I remember them well. I collect FMV games.

Later games became self aware with the bad acting and hammy dialogue. Red Alert was rather dark compared to those, with Stalin himself ordering you to commit warcrimes from mission 1.
The deleted FMV sequences from the original Twisted Metal are quite a treat.
Never mind just the intro, this shit exists and I'm glad it does.

Masterpiece.

I've seen plenty of the terrible ones but which actually were good? I found Flash Traffic and the X-Files game to be pretty OK.

Origin put it to good use.

Whoa, has no one talked about the original opening movie for Resident Evil?

This shit is amazing. It starts getting really good at around a minute in.
My favorite part was when everyone pauses to watch the helicopter fly off, and then resumes being chased.

You make me happy

Have you played Stonekeep? Awesome pseudo FMV RPG dungeon crawler. It's a bit of a slog at times, but the characters are really rich, and the voice acting was unparalleled for its time IMO.
Also Richard Epcar (Batou from Ghost in the Shell SAC english dub) plays a dwarf.

Remember Resident Evil Directors Cut?
I still hold the opinion that fat plastic orks are the best incarnation of space orks.

Most of the actors are just random people who happened to look like the characters, I think the girl who plays Jill was still a teenager at the time.
I watched this so many times as a kid.

better or worse than Warcraft 2?

I regularly get shit for calling Stonekeep an FMV game. People don't understand, because its gameplay is fairly free, due to smart FMV use.
It's the Grimrock of its time, and indeed a damn fine game, highly recommended

I always love the Japanese version.

I see Stonekeep get shit on a lot on here, the voice acting was pretty decent for the time (drake probably being the worst), but I genuinely had a blast with that game as a kid. Great magic system IMO, and some enjoyable dialog/world building.

also, nice dungeon variety and, rare for a dungeon crawler, nice verticality
