They went with an objectively worse format and it ruined entire generations of gaming. Why did they do this?
>>
PAL is an objectively better format for watching television programs though.

When it was designed there were no home video games.
>>
PAL-M master race.

>60hz refresh like NTSC
>superior colours like PAL
>>
>>3424203
More lines and perfect color reproduction? Much easier to convert movies from as well, some tiny speed compensation and you still retain the smoothness of the original. NTSC 3:2 pulldown is a seizure inducing nightmare unless you've been conditioned to it.

PAL itself doesn't seem worse for video games in theory, it's just shitty conversions that let it down.
>>
>>3424209
PAL-M actually doesn't use the true PAL 4.43 MHz colour subcarrier. It's 3.575611 MHz which is almost the same as NTSC.

Congratulations Brazil, you took NTSC and you (very very very) slightly improved the color and called it PAL.
>>
Who gives a shit about PAL vs NTSC when you have computers that surpass both?
>>
>>3424189
The only reason NTSC is better for gaming is because japan had it as a standard when they made games.

If Japan had used PAL, then all of America would've gotten cucked.

Plus, we got native RGB connections, while the USA struggled with getting S-Video popular.

>>3424220
>>3424209
PAL60 is the superior format. PAL colour carrier, with 60hz.
>>
>>3424231
But they didn't use PAL, so your fantasy is a moot point. Therefore, as you say, Europe is cucked.
>>
America always wins, baby.
>>
>>3424231
>If Japan had used PAL, then all of America would've gotten cucked.

NTSC was kinda imposed onto Japan by the US following World War 2.
>>
>>3424372
So Europe and Japan were cucked by America? I see.
>>
>>3424437
Technically, the whole world is cucked by AUSCANZUKUS.
>>
>>3424450
Aka them Five Eyeses.
>>
>>3424450

No wonder the world is in the current state.
>>
>>3424189
Could be worse. Could be SECAM.
>>
>>3424478
>Atari 2600 SECAM color palette
Why did they even bother?

>>3424231
>>3424330
Paltard BTFO. Why is it so easy to poke holes in these retards' logic?
>>
>No info for Anctarctica

I feel bad for those penguins that will never know the joy of video games.

PAL... was a mistake.

You fucked up, OP. You should have kept the filename ambiguous, and watched as /vr/ tore itself to shreds trying to figure out which format you thought was worse.
>>
How is PAL inferior? It's better in every way.
>>
>>3427994
RGB60 > PAL60 > NTSC > shit > RGB50 > PAL
>>
>>3424189

PAL is superior by design bur wasn't made for vidya. It was made to correct the typical color errors of NTSC that happened on long distance transmissions by phase shift, therefore it replaced the color error by the much less noticeable saturation error.
This was irrelevant with consoles as the device producing the signal is directly at the TV and therefore there do not really occur color errors.
>>
>>3428050
>bur wasn't made for vidya
Neither was NTSC though
>>
>>3428070

Yes but not being designed for it is the reason why though for normal TV clearly superior looking it could not show any strengths whenit comes to consoles. The only potential thing it had left was its higher potential resolution with more lines but you had to do the work to make a second completely unique version of games to fully use this potential, not simply stretching them.

By what metric?
>>
>>3428110
His personal taste.

Who cares? Anyone with half a brain emulates or uses RGB.
