I wish there were more 2D platformers during the 5th gen. I heard Astral and Mr. Bones are pretty good. Are there any other good 2D platformers from that gen?Excluding Mischief makers

Abe's Odyssey and Exoddus for ps1 is fantastic, one of mye favorites growing up, and still holds up well today.
You can play through them killing everyone (pretty easy, but still kinda fun) or trying to save all the good guys (a fucking challange)

If you like platformers mixed with some puzzle elements, Monkey Magic for PS1 is a great game:

Didn't that guy show up in a bunch of old Sonic the Hedgehog comics?

Nah, that one is Monkey Khan. Both are Son Wukong references, though.

Shit, thanks anon. You saved me the trouble of searching through a decade worth of old comic books from my closet.

Aw, that would've been fun reliving old memories. Mind posting some old Sonic covers btw?

Gameplay style looks like a more refined style of Bug and Bug Too.

Here's another PS1 game based on journey to the west, and this is a traditional 2D sidescroller with pre-rendered graphics.
This thread also needs some Goemon, PS1 has Oedo Daikaiten and N64 has Goemon's Great Adventure.
Pic related and Kirby 64
