/vr/ I got some questions,

I would like to organize my game collection and have been trying to figure out the best way to do this. Currently I'm using a few smallish bookshelves but I'm almost out of room so was wondering if there was an easier/better way to display/store them?

Also some of the carts have some partially screwed up stickers on them and because that kind of thing bothers me I'd like to replace those stickers.

Lastly, I was curious if anyone knows of a place to get relatively cheap/nice cases for SEGA, SNES, NES, and N64 carts?

I wanna see how people store their old games

have a bump OP

My first tip is to stop looking to display anything. Like if you have a single game or game box with its front facing outwards, you're doing nothing but wasting space. There's no reason for a single item to not be on its side.

Well of course. That is part of why I want cases for my games actually. You can't exactly tell which game is which between N64 carts unless you either have special stickers on them (no thanks) or have them in cases.

When I say display, I meant more as a whole than individually. I'm overall more interested in being able to pick out the game I'm looking for without pulling everything off a shelf every time I want to switch games.

Maybe take a photo of your shelves so we can see what you got going on?

Which looks better:
Games organized alphabetically or by release date?

I'm asking mostly in regards to Genesis clamshells but also curious on the general consensus.

My brothers and I organized them in order in which we acquired them. Also organizing them by release date sounds SUPER autistic.

Well I ask by release date since genesis clamshell cases tend to look the same by year. Games that came out in '92 had a certain look and games that came out in '93 had those red cases, I think '94 up had red paper sleeves etc.

Yesterday I got a new shelf which is perfect for gaming storage. It's an Atlantic brand 'Summit Media 261 CD storage cabinet' - though I think there are wider versions which offer double or triple that storage.

I've been experimenting on my games and this is my report on what it will hold total. For cartridge-based games I'm talking about loose copies here.
- 261 single-disc games (duh)
- 144 NES games
- 126 SNES games
- 144 N64 games (maybe a few more if you get creative with stacking)
- 153 Genesis games (Once again, probably more with creativity)

Like this

it's all alphabetical order, except that the shelves aren't the same size, so I cannot put everything in the order that I wanted. But overall is ok.

I'll give a bump too.

I would have a hard time finding things if they weren't alphabetical.
