Hello /vr/, what are your favorite 2D or 2.5D platformers for the PS1?
I've only played pic related, and I've never really been a fan of 3D platformers, so I'm looking for some other good ones to play.
Both Oddworld games. Rayman is good, too.
Kirikou is pretty chill.
I don't know a lot of them but The Adventure of Little Ralph is one of my favorite PS1 games:

Skullmonkeys.
There isn't as many of those as you might think on the PS1. Or rather, there aren't many ones that are actually that good, but 5th gen was like that in general.
Tomba is one of the most liked overall.
Pic related is Fuun Gokuu Ninden and it's a decent (read: not great but playable) 2D action platformer with pre-rendered graphics, based on Journey to the West, you can select the monkey, the kappa or the pig guy, all with different abilities.
Worth playing if you're craving some 2D plats.

Yeah, it seems that way.
I've just been trying to find some good platformers to play beyond the typical classics since I've played most of them. I thought the PS1 might have some that I haven't heard of.
I guess I could extend the reach of this thread to be "retro platformers that aren't mario, sonic, etc"

I enjoyed pic related a lot. Also Prehistorik Man if you don't know it already.

There's the Ganbare Goemon series, personally one of my favorites. On PS1 there's 2 of them that are 2D, Oedo Daikaiten which is an example of a classic Goemon game, and Uchuu Kaizoku Akogingu, this one has more RPG/Zelda-ish parts so language barrier might a problem, neither of those are in english.
On N64 there's Goemon's Great Adventure which I personally think it's the best Goemon game, and it has 2.5D graphics.
But before you play any of those, I'd recommend you play the SNES games. The first one was localized in english as Legend of the Mystical Ninja, while Goemon 2, 3 and 4 were only released in Japan. Goemon 2 and 4 are playable without moon knowledge, 3 is more similar to Uchuu Kaizoku Akogingu on PS1.

This, if only for the eye and ear candy
