You would only get in trouble if you got caught red handed.
If you did manage to grab it while no one was there, the worst that can happen is that the guard on duty would get a warning or a slap on the wrist at worst.
Best you can do is probably ask the landlord for the monitor, since security can't do jack shit when it comes to stuff belonging to the building.
You could lie and say your landlord gave you permission to take it
