What's the difference between the action, adventure, and

A pure action game is very straightforward, frantic action, often with a timer and very demanding on skills/reflexes, there is little room for exploring and such.

Adventure games have a more deliberate pace where you explore big maps and stuff, you can take your time to figure out things, and progressing if often related to puzzles or collecting items rather than the frantic pace of action games.

Not entirely, you can have adventure games with fairly limited exploration so while generally adventure games do have more area to cover they aren't required

Adventure games are styled after a game named Adventure
Action Adventures are styled after a game named Adventure which was the Atari 2600 interpretation of the original Adventure.

Adventure games have an inventory.

Weapon wheels, etc. don't count as inventory. It needs to be non-combat items.

Action adventure is used to distinguish from old PC style Adventure games, and also from character action games (god of war, DMC, etc).

There's multiple ways to interpret this, but my preferred definition is along these lines.

Action: Based almost entirely around things like combat and platforming. I'd call something like Mega Man an Action game.

Adventure: Based around exploration, puzzles, and item management. Something like Sam & Max or King's Quest.

Action Adventure: A game that has elements of both. Exploration and thinking mixed with action and skill-based challenges. Good examples would be Zelda and Metroid.

Again, this is all contestable. I'm just stating the way I define the three.
