Machiavelli the prince, turn based strategy game about being a Venetian merchant prince in the renaissance, you can explore, open trade routes with other cities, hire mercenary armies to open or close cities to your trade, arson your friend's warehouses, spread rumors and ruin their reputation and so.

Hell, even you can buy cardinals at Rome and get your very own Pope and run crusades against other cities or excommunicate your friends (you can also kill your friends cardinals to destroy their influence and even have their Pope murdered).

You can play it by email: do your turn tasks, compile the turn on a file and sent then to your friends to load on their games, no hamachi needed.

I'd give it a try, played for years with friends and was so fun and hectic... so much anger and saltiness.

I still remember having the improperly cracked version which will change your name into "Pirate" as well as lowering all disposition after a certain period. Looking back it was an ingenious anti-piracy protection.
