Cheddar is a cheese eaten by people who have never eaten any other kind of cheese.Ever try baking camembert? Fucking delicious gooey goodness. It ruins the rind but it's one of the easiest ways to get a gooey cheese for nachos.
>>3336458
>hating on glorious cheddar cheese
Look I've sampled just about every kind of cheese you can get in America and while it isn't my favorite there is just something special about a really good block of sharp cheddar cheese.
Think Pixar's Ratatouille or something if it helps you understand what makes Cheddar so great.
Requesting the first /vr/-tan concept.

Newsflash: If you don't appreciate cheddar, you don't really appreciate cheese. It's one of the world's most popular styles of cheese for over 800 years with good reason. A nice old cheddar paired with tree fruits like apple or pear is glorious.
>>3336464
>>3337154
Cheddar isn't American. Cheddar predates America by like 500 years. "American cheese" has to be labeled as 'processed cheese' or 'cheese food' because it's not really cheese anymore.
>>3339390
This is great.
>>3339117
>Newsflash: If you don't appreciate NES, you don't really appreciate video games. It's one of the world's most popular video consoles for over 30 years with good reason.I couldn't write that not
>>3336364
Seconding. Want to see the original of that.
>>3339117
Cheddar doesn't predate America, not evwn close, america is 2 continents. It predates the United States of America. Nobody is saying cheddar was invinted in North America you dork, "American Cheese" is the most infamous brand of fake cheese. Some people are under the impression it's the only "cheese" US citizens have.
But I digress

>>3339494
>American cheese is fake cheese.
While it's no fine cheese, it's quite literally just two or more cheeses that have been mixed with milk (or other additions, like salt or vegetable oil) after pasteurization.
Because of this the FDA says it must be called a cheese product, since it's not just straight aged cheese.
While I wouldn't eat it plain, I think it's great on sandwiches.
And of course, some (many?) brands are cheap disgusting shit.

Cheddar predates these continents being called the Americas though. Unless you want to get technical and say America isn't actually named after Amerigo Vespucci, but a reworking of the Incan name for the place, Amaruka (land of the feathered serpents)
Either way, it certainly predates the name "America" being used by anyone. So it can safely be said that it predates America, even though it doesn't predate the existence of continents. Cheddar's not quiiiite that old.
>>3339494
This is the worst kind of pedantry. Everyone fucking understands "America" to mean "The United States of America" in that context. How are you gonna say that America refers to the continents when 95% of the time it's used, it refers to the country? When you make arguments like this you look like a retard with nothing intelligent to say.
>>3336458
Cheddar didn't become standard overnight you dumb fucker. A sharp chedder cheese has a fantastic and unique flavor, you're just overexposed and started buying fancy cheese because they came with a shiny gold label or some shit so you could think you're cultured.

wadafuck ?
how about africa and europa, are there many speculations about the etymology of those? they are so ancients i bet no one knows for sure
>>3339502
>>3341208
All true. Ruka was the Incan name for Quettzalcoatl. Amaruka was what they called their land. There's also strong evidence that it was the South and Central Amercian worship of snakes that is part of why the Zoroastrians had such a specific hatred of them, but that's the edge of a very deep rabbit hole that this isn't a good forum for going down.
>>3341223
so i googled
Quetzalcoatl amaruka zoroastrian
Quetzalcoatl amaruka zoroastrianism
whoa, long time since i typed something and google returned empty, feels refreshing at least, instead of having some fake content site with your search terms inserted in the text, or fake ads selling quetzalcoatl
>Quetzalcoatl amaruka zoroastr
this finds some spanish results with zoroastro btw
>>3341249
Yeah google won't help you a ton with it. That's why I said it was a deep rabbit hole. People these days think google is the end of all research. You can take this all with some massive grains of salt because I have neither the time or inclination to scan things just for 4chan, but the history of the Americas is a lot longer and more complicated than people are taught in school.
>>3341249
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetzalcoatl
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_(word)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroastrianism
american (word) doesn't mention anything of 'amaruka', though
>>3341284
That's because the official story is that America is named after Amerigo Vespucci. Even though Amerigo wasn't even his real birth name.
>>3341294
this is what i have been told in yurop schools as well. it's an interesting topic you mention there, sadly the wrong board
Here's a fun one you can look into on your own if you're bored though. The first flying machine built in Europe was by a Portuguese, Brazilian born priest. He got the idea and design for the airship from natives in the Brazilian jungle who built model versions they would fly in festivals dedicated to their long departed sky gods.
>>3341284
No one in a proper argument would use wiki alone for sources.
>>3341448
clearly not, it was merely meant to be a help for anon mentioning, that a combination of the terms didn't yield any search results via google, assuming he was unable to find it himself by the time i had written the post
>>3341136
Because the shit gets more retarded elsewhere
And the transient nature of 4chan coupled with anonymity means no one's trying to suck the zeitgeist's dick all the time unlike every other site
Also because /vr/ is pretty chill. Less so than it was, but still pretty chill.
>>3336458
Any cheese can be bland and boring.
In Germany the most prominent kind of cheese are Gouda and Emmentaler, and most of them taste bland. Cheddar on the other hand is rare and often good when you get one.
It's all relative, man.

You don't think there's anything amazing about natives living in the jungle with otherwise only stone age technology who built what were essentially mini working hot air balloon models? All in honor of long departed sky gods"? Before anyone in Europe had even thought of the concept?
Well that priest thought it was pretty amazing. He took the idea and built the first lighter than air craft Europe had ever seen. (In recorded history)
