Never played Returns or Tropical Freeze yet, but heard they are good too.

Donkey Kong '94 is the best Mario platformer ever made if you ask me. Its sequel, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong is great, too. Just really deep, brain-bending gameplay. All the SNES DKCs are addictive, top notch games. Never went beyond those in the series but you really can't go wrong.
