For the same reason a fucking common, massed produced, Mario SNES game goes for 35 bucks minimum.
>>
>tfw ps1 games were already rare in 2009 but somehow i got hold of this
the platinum version
i also nabbed tomb raider ii along the way
>>
Is Spyro worth playing if you are a SM64/Banjo Kazooie fan, or is it quite different from those games?
>>
>>3125702
Youtubers.
Believe it or not.
>>
>>3126386
Spyro is probably the most similar type of game to SM64/BK you will find on PS1. It has deeper movement tech than pretty much anything else on the console.

>"Ehhh, take it off my hands anyway, I don't want it"
>whatever you say, lady
>we now have a cordless and therefore untestable PS2 with $0 invested in it
>take a chance and buy it off my boss for $2
>turns out there's a Spyro 1 disc in the console
>buy cords for about $10 online
>mfw I got a PS2 and Spyro 1 for $12

Dog bless dumb mothers.

It's a pretty light collectathon. Spyro 2 has a lot more mini games and 3 has other characters you can play as. Personally I prefer 1 since it's just pure platforming and exploring, 2 and 3 felt like they were trying to mimic their N64 counterparts.

but yeah, super worth it and it still holds up pretty well. The levels based around the charge boost are crazy fun and really cool, it's a goddamn shame there isn't more of them in the game. Tree Tops and Lofty Castle are just fucking amazing.

>>3126334
Crash is good, but overrated overall. The Spyro games were pretty much better overall.
>>
>>3125702
In 2004 I had the option of getting a Spyro 3pak new for $20 or getting an unopened Zelda Majoras mask.

Guess which one I bought? Guess which one I wish I never opened considering today's hot market
>>
I picked up the greatest hits version of that game for $5 at a pawn shop about a year ago. Just keep bargain-hunting, anon.
>>
>>3125702
I found this game and the third for $3 at Goodwill not too long ago. I've actually posted on the buy sell trade threads back when they were alive, but nobody came forward.
>>
I still have the exact same copy I played when I was a kid. It's scratched to hell now though and doesn't play in the PS2. Someday we'll be reunited.

moron
>>

I already own a PS2. I'm not buying a new console just to play one game you stupid fuck.
>>
>>3128737

Retroarch + CRT filter is fine, you don't need shitty old scratched CDs. Use a wii classic controller with usb adaptor
>>
>>3128753

lmao no thanks.

If you think this game is expensive used. Oh boy. You haven't seen the prices of some Saturn games. Or SNES games like Earthbound. Spyro is cheap in comparison.

Spyro costs about as much as a old PS3 game. So it's not too bad in terms of price. It's not dirt cheap like some PS1 games. (less than $10) But it's not fucking expensive like Earthbound either.
>>
>>3126364
that's not that much of a great achievement.

>tfw paid $220 for a copy
Don't regret it at all actually, play it often enough that I feel fine with my decison.
>>
>>3125702
fuck man the modding scene for this game needs to step up! i want to make my own spyro levels damnit! or at least play some
>>
>>3129887
I'm not gonna insult you but you definitely paid too much
>>
>>3131061
Agreed. These games and Crash both seem to have some pretty high modding potential, but it's like the more skilled hackers either just lean towards the PS1 FFs (whose mods I'm also interested in) or the N64.
>>
>>3125702
The best before 2&3 hit and started to put bullshit everywhere.
>>
>>3131109
You're right, honestly though this was enough time ago I don't really think about it. No use still thinking about it, I try not to get hung up over things so long ago.
>>
So they are actually worth money?
I remember the guy at EB Games told me I should pay him for him to take my collection of like 40 PS1 games lol "I'm doing you a favor by giving you 1$ for each game"

>>

I believe Crash Bandicoot in particular is hard to make a modding community for, other than using the already existing levels. Something about the level geometey being streamed from the CD, some even saying it's prerendered, which I find hard to believe.
>>
Anybody knows if the supposed "perfect patch" of paradox works for Spyro 3?
I am playing it currently and it seems to work, but if somebody has tested it, would like the reassurance.
>>
>>3132793
I just downloaded some random ISO and it worked perfectly fine last time I played through it.
>>
>>3132961
Where did you got it? which emulator did you use?
>>
>>3131664
I just payed ~$30 for the third game, and I think $20 each for 1 and 2. They're really good games but not rare.
>>
>>3132964
epsxe and either cool roms or emuparadise
>>
>>3132975
Weird people in the reviews of emuparadise say it is broken and bugged with anti piracy issues.
I am using a patched version and it works fine so far though.
>>
is it just me or does the second game feel unfinished?
>>
I have a disc only copy you can just have man.
Seriously though if you haven't figured out how to play spyro for free yet I pity you.

The ePSXe Emulator. Plays PS1 games just fine on my shitty laptop.

Also using a PS3 controller wirelessly via custom drivers and bluetooth.

Emuparadise is a good place to *Ehem* look up some good discounts on digital copies of the spyro trilogy.

yeah but it seems like stuff was cut for time. Notice how the second world has twice as many levels as the other worlds, and how the talismans get completley phased out at the begging of the 3rd world
>>
>>3133558
and no spring world also

I contributed to the thread already.
Been playing Spyro 3, but was trying out the anti piracy patch. Hope it works.
