hello guys, I just bought a nes, the one in the picture
everything seems to be in working order and in very good condition, but the controller port doesn't seem to work
whenever I plug in one of the two controllers, I get some kind of input. for example, in world champion, the little arrow in the main menù goes down once everytime I plug in and out. then nothing more. it does the same thing with both the controllers.
I had a nes when I was very young, but I never had this kind of problem. any of you had this kind of problem? is my new nes screwed and should I ask for a refund? (good luck with that...)

i left my mega drive at my parents house. it sat in the garage for 10 years. both controllers were fucked when I got it back. every button would pause it. disassembled the controllers, cleaned all the contacts and the pcb with 99% iso alcahol and bobs your uncle, working controllers.

but since the two controllers seem to be having the same exact behaviour, wouldn't it be fair to assume that it's the console's fault? tried to open the thing and it's all super clean on the inside, probably been cleaned not long ago. the seller says that it was working just fine, just a couple days ago, and he's got the best possible feedback. really don't know what to think about it.

Might be the contacts in either the plug of the console or the controllers. Sadly it's very hard to clean those, but there are replacements for those. In worst case buy a broken NES and rip those from that one.
First i would dip them for some time in 99% iso and get something to scratch in the holes.
