There's a precious little 13" Toshiba CRT at the Goodwill warehouse right now with component and Svideo inputs an large side speakers for just $3 that I want to give a home to but my wife is starting to get irritated with me. I already have four other 13" CRTs not even counting my big PVM and the ones in cabinets

Oh yeah definitely. Unfortunately, in the USA CRTs that support RGB are mainly limited to pro monitors and even with proper configuration, VGA signals still need transcoded into "component" to get lossless results.

Other "decent" configurations I can recommend are to use a VGA CRT monitor directly in hacked low resolutions or with tv filters, buying an older video card with an SVideo output and the classic, emulating with a Wii.
