Quite possible.

Get out /v/
>>
Virtua Racing
>>
>>3070972
Batman and Robin is superior

>>3071018
The fuck outta here
>>
>>3070972
Yes
It's incredible. The lighting on the jungle level is still amazing.
>>
>>3071018
>muh start and stop for an enemy rush
>muh wannabe Contra Hard Corps clone slowed down
>lackluster effects saved for mainly boss battles

Ex Ranza wrecks that gay Batman shit on all fronts.

It's the best looking game that I've personally played on it. Seriously it looks like a Saturn/PS1 today game but nope, it's all on the base Megadrive/Genesis. Unless there's some chip in the cart that I'm not aware of? It's a very impressive game.
>>
>>3071082
As far as I'm aware Virtua Racing is the only Mega Drive game with an extra chip.
>>
>>3070972
Jurassic Park Rampage Edition pulls off six layers of parallax in the savanna level. I don't know of another Genesis game that does that.

Ranger X looks amazing, but I think that's mostly just good deign and art.
>>
>>3070972

Barring cheating shit like Virtua Racing? Probably.
>>
>>3071261

If only the gameplay for this game wasn't complete shit

The first one was so well put together, what fucking happened? Did the team change?
>>
>>3070972
Makes you wonder what late-gen megadrive games would have been capable of if it wasn't for sega throwing their business away with add-ons and premature 2D 5th gen console. They were in the perfect position to exploit the end of 2D without going for overkill like NeoGeo or Playstation. They should have clung to the megadrive and released a full 3D machine like the dreamcast around 1997.The dreamcast was only like $200 on release, if they had released it for $400 like a normal console, around the end of 1997 or start of 1998 and they would have blown everyone away. The PS2 and other consoles wouldn't be for years, Microsoft would think again before coming into the race, and during all that time it would be dreamcast vs N64 and PSone.
>>
>>3071261
That's two layers, with some line scrolling. Good art design, but not technically impressive.
>>
>>3071261
>Ranger X looks amazing, but I think that's mostly just good deign and art.

It does parallax to create 3d tunnels, highlight effect (a hardware feature) to create spotlights you can walk under (and charge up faster - so its not even just a gimmick, but integrated into gameplay), it also does gigantic explosions and boss fights, and has polygonal cutscenes.

The game is tight in the effects department no matter which way you look at it - but it ALSO has good design and art.

Vectorman 1 beats both though. Just by the "Press Start" title screen, you've seen a ridiculous amount of effects.

To this day I still don't know how they pulled off that title screen.

LOLWUT?

Red Zone does some crazy shit on the Genesis
>>
>>3070998
This, it's pretty nice but Alien Soldier is more impressive and has better performance.
>>
That's not Alien Solider OP.

Lol, wtf am I reading?

>The first one was so well put together
You need to stop the drugs.
>>
>>3071286
I've heard this from a few people and never got it. I love both games a ton and beat them many times over the years, but Rampage Edition is the one I find myself returning to more. It's just a fun romp and I like the graphics better.

>>3071292
Interesting, what's the difference? Never looked into it. At any rate, I think that stage is one of the most beautiful Genesis levels in anything. Running back and forth along it is still breathtaking. I'm partial to settings like that as well though.

>>3071302
That is all true. The solar recharge thing in that game is so great. I love the cave level where you open up the spotlights and flying up in the forest to recharge is awesome.

Also the control on your flying/floating is just about perfect in that game.
>>
>>3071289
In Japan arcade perfect was still the goal so arcade beautiful 2d was the goal. They were still convinced 3d was premature and 2d was still the rage.
>>
>>3073638
Well, it's not like their decision to focus on 2D capability was without merit, it was definitely more interesting to have something like the Saturn alongside the 3D-focused Playstation and N64 rather than having another similair console.

Also, in Japan there was still quite some demand for arcade perfect 2D ports. The Playstation ports could be pretty horrible, so I'm glad the Saturn was around to give us playable versions of games like X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Vampire Savior and Neo Geo games.(even if they had animation cuts and load times)
>>
Thoughts on this game? Copies seem relatively cheap.

nah. batman pulls off the same kind of line scrolling effects and huge explosions, plus very smooth 3d looking sprite scaling all at twice the framerate.

red zone and panorama cotton are also pretty impressive too
>>
>>3070998
Framerate doesn't change the quality of graphics you dip.
