Dungeon Defenders
Ball Bullet Gun
A fun, not-oft mentioned strategy game translated by AGTP. Instead of actual war, it's...paintball or something. Fun and cute.
Pokemon TCG 2
Slay. Oddly addictive even despite the simplistic rules. Supports multiplayer.

Get your ass on Crystal Warriors, a strategy RPG for the Game Gear. It's on 3DS VC or you can probably emulate it.
OP pic reminded me of the final engagement in that game. It's super cool, has a magic/class based weakness system and is very linear, but you can really challenge yourself if you want. The game allows you to build parties that are very low level and essentially nullify weaknesses with an AMAZING summon system that every character can utilize. Essentially, there are non-affiliated mobs stationed on almost every map that can be recruited as a paired unit upon defeat. Maps are large and feature hidden/out of the way summons, permadeath is a thing, and it's really fun.
Jagged Alliance 2
For grand strategy I immediately think of a lot of Koei's offerings.

Crystal Warriors is pretty rad.
If we are going into SLG/SRPG territory, I'd recommend Der Langrisser, or really, any Langrisser (Warsong on the MD/Genesis) game.
Super Robot Wars
completely addictive
