MGS PC is missing some effects. But it has fixed all the awful PS1 3D issues that most games have. I say the PC version is worth it.

Shame it doesn't work on modern systems.

HD PS1 graphics, that shit never gets old.
If you want a fancy remake with bad cutscenes just play Twin Snakes.
>>
>>2800239

The only issue with PS1 in HD are the wobbling and parkinsons. I can accept the rest. It's just an old game.

>Twin Snakes

Is a cheap, half-assed remake by incompetent devs. The environments are just so soulless. I'd much rather play the original.
>>
Let me guess, you think the best version of Kirby's Adventure is on GBA too.
>>
>>2800248

1. Kirby games were never good, they're just fluff for kids.
2. That's a full remake, not a port.
3. The PC port of MGS is just MGS: Integral with some fixed 3D issues.
>>
>>2800247
Hey man, Twin Snakes is like Spiderman 3.

Its comedy of the year.
>>
>>2800247
>Is a cheap, half-assed remake by incompetent devs. The environments are just so soulless. I'd much rather play the original.
Oh I know, it's the version that faggots who can't stand playing native PS1 games deserve.
>>
>>2800247
I played TTS this year just to see what it was like. So much disappointment. A big part of the appeal of MGS is playing a normal dude and taking out guys with ridiculous and impossible powers by punching and shooting them in the face. A lot of that gets lost when Snake can suddenly do backflips straight out of The Matrix.
>>
>>2800247
>The environments are just so soulless.

Everything looks like it's made of plastic. There's no dirt or grime or texture to anything.
>>
>>2800235
>gimped Psycho Mantis fight

It's shit.
>>
>>2800235
The PC version is like a straight port from a modern emulator (as in non jiggly textures) and that's it
>>
>>2800247
>>2800320

Are you high. They are practically the same fucking environments. The 'dirt' is just pixels from their tiny texture size.
>>
>>2800523

TTS everything looks techno and made of plastic.

PS1 original, there is so much better art design. Lower resolution PS1 textures sure, but it looks grittier and more real. TTS also has shitty color filter over much of everything for no reason.

Snake must infiltrate Shadow Moses, the first USA facility entirely made of plastic.
>>
>>2800347
>The PC version is like a straight port from a modern emulator (as in non jiggly textures) and that's it

No PS1 emulator can do non jiggly textures. The PC port is a straight port but with the 3D issues fixed. That's a big enough improvement for me, that puts it above the original console or emulation.

Just wish I could get it to work on modern consoles.
>>
>>2800889
>>2800892
sure got autism in here

autism about a lackluster gamecube release nobody played, no less
>>
>>2800894
>No PS1 emulator can do non jiggly textures
They do with the GTE Accuracy hack enabled
>>
>>2800235
>MGS PC is missing some effects.

And a good bunch of the OST, which is sampled at ridicolous bits/hz (programmer admitted he downloaded tracks from MGS sites), along with the whole audio department, some of which is even played at the wrong frequencies. Don't get me started on boss music.

PC port flat out sucks, and it's a good thing it stopped running on modern systems.
>>
>>2801228
>programmer admitted he downloaded tracks from MGS sites
lel wut. Like those crappy mp3's encoded in 56 kbit/s as I downloaded back in 2002? Sure Napster was a thing in 2000 and some people had ISDN connections but holy fuck.
>>
>>2801304

Game audio was usually compressed as well at the time, I don`t think anyone did lossless audio then. I remember that PC version of Shadowman used 192 bit mp3s.

Which is kinda retarded, but understandable because speaker systems weren`t much of a thing back then.
>>
>>2800248
You are such a faggot.
>>
>>2800894
that's not true. modern psx emulators have (in near future) anti jiggle and widescreen hack.
>>
>>2801334
Whoops, meant this guy.
>>2800302
>>

>>

>>2800889
There's a lot that was bad about Twin Snakes, and worse than the original. But you're being pretty retarded there.
>>
>>2801334
>>2801336
Not him, but I agree. Snake wasn't so bad, but the Gray Fox scene with Rex is so horribly drawn out in TTS.
>>
>>2801335

mednafen is one of the most "modern" out there. The primary dev has confirmed there are not nor ever will be plans for those sorts of hacks. Methinks you talk out your ass.

>>2800285

My nigga.
>>
>>2801348
me thinks you don't even know what you are talking about, basic bitch. check your privilige and facts before opening your gay mouth.

>>
>>2801404
stay mad that you can't have internal integer high-res scaling + correct dithering ΓΌ widescreen hack
>>
>>2801348
>The primary dev has confirmed there are not nor ever will be plans for those sorts of hacks.
No shit, it emulates at 1x the resolution. The widescreen hack is already there anyway if you run mednafen through retroarch

The anti jittery is the GTE accuracy hack
>>
>>2801546
but we are talking about a fork of PCSXR with an fork of PCSX-ReARMed's NEON renderer that work on non ARM system
>PCSX1
>>
>>2801546

Wrong. mednafen has neither of those two. It is strictly accuracy-focused. The closest you get to widescreen is the various scaling/stretching options it has.

>>2801553

aka Plugin-Hell: The Emulator
>>
>>2801563
aka beauty. this gif is PCSX-R+ OpenGL2.
With PCSX1, you will get integer scaling , correct dithering at higher resolutions + widescreen hack

I've tested that. It reduces the jiggle, not remove it. I used to have videos showing that.

The only PS1 games with zero jiggle are ports to other consoles, like PC or Gamecube. RE2 PC for instance has its jiggle removed. But not all ports removed the jiggle, some were just super lazy. DIno Crisis PC still has jiggle for instance.
>>
>>2800915

There's nothing wrong criticizing a cheap, rushed lackluster remake.

For instance, MGS4 made Shadow Moses look really good while keeping the same look as the original game.
>>
>>2800894
>The PC port is a straight port but with the 3D issues fixed.
Care to elaborate.
>>
>>2801228

>bad audio

Mods could fix that easily.
>>
>>2801670
TTS looked fine. It was the FPS mode breaking the game, alter cutscenes and dialogue changes that ruined it.
>>
>>2801674

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrFcYbwz_ws
>>
>>2801679
As in mod the entire fucking game down to the code.

I said

>if you run mednafen through retroarch
>>
>>2801763

Retroarch doesn't fundamentally alter the way mednafen renders the game, fool.

How do you keep the dithering with OpenGL2?
