It's pretty funny when you look at contemporary reviews for Golden Axe Warrior. It got scores like 40% and was labelled a "tedious, boring RPG" and "nothing like the action-packed coin-op conversion".

I actually would much rather play Golden Axe Warrior than Golden Axe. Beat 'em Ups with no multiplayer function (as in the Master System conversion) are far more tedious and boring than Golden Axe Warrior.
