I think the gargling sound when you do a 16 hit chain in the original puyo was originally a glitch but they decided to keep it that way in the newer games. It's really satisfying for some reason, sounds like the game is having a seizure.

Never mind, I just checked it and the arcade version doesn't do it.

Shit, I remember playing this on ZSNES as a kid. I think I only got a "Here it comes!" combo twice or thrice.

The Kirby game is a puyo puyo game with Kirby skin .The same case of Robotinik game
Do these games have a bit of a steep learning curve, or do I just suck? I can't even beat the first robot on Mean Bean Machine.

The early games had different mechanics that favored whoever got a combo first. Beyond that, you just gotta git gud. Try using the practice exercises. They'll help you identify chain setups better.

It got localized as spin-offs instead of some random japanese puzzle game.

That aside, it's kinda sad that the only actually canon Puyo Pop outside of Japan was that one for the GBA.

Bastards ripped Kirby off but added "kawai kochan ^_^" girls to it. Weebs prefer that version, because they are pedophiles with poor taste.
