They had so many missed opportunities, instead of having the cast interact with Ash's pokemon they had them interact with random Pokemon instead, why did Mallow have to interact with Gloom/Vileplume instead of his grass types? - Cause comedic relief.
Why couldn't Kiawe awe over all of Ash's Fire-types instead of racing a random Rapidash?
Why only Totodile and Corphish with a bunch of other random water types, why not add in all of Ash's other water types in the scene?
Why not show Oshawott being rejected by Vupix/Steenee?
Have Rowlet hanging in the trees with his other Flying types?
The writers missed so many good opportunities to show his past pokemon, but of course, we had t have more Gen 1 pandering and it was just a another messy episode where nothing happens for 20mins.
