They took advantage of the Champ being away and built their massive fortress right under the noses of the 4 most powerful trainers in Unova. That's some sneaky balls. It's this reason why I hate the Unova Elite Four. They should be stripped of their title for being so unaware of what was going on in their backyard.

Skull and Aether. Skull because they aren't really an evil team, they're just bitter, lost kids without a purpose in life,. Aether isn't really an evil team either- they're certainly sinister and performed questionable experiments, but it doesn't look like their pokemon aid centers are a front and seem geniuine. A lot of their corruption stems from a terrible leader rather than a terrible united goal, too.

OK so we have certain favorite teams, but is your favorite team leader from your favorite team too?

My favorite team is Magma but I like Ghetsis more as a villain team leader, the guy is just pure evil and gets a really nice upgrade in design and team leadership in B2W2. Also vegetable ending seems quite fitting for him.

I don't remember to be honest, I never really got into knowing which room was of each since they weren't as "personalized" as Team Aqua's. I feel Team Magma missed a lot of love on those regards, Team Aqua had a lot of backstory to them (Jirachi, Archie and Shelly being childhood friends, Archie saving Matt's life) while Team Magma is just there.

I think Team Galactic's was the boldest, even if it was the strangest. That's my personal favorite just because Cyrus attempts to play God and fails miserably, but Team Rocket's was always the most sensible in terms of motives and means of doing so- right in the start of the series, they became the true antagonizing faction because of their disregard of Pokemon wellbeing and using them as slaves in crimes. Gen III's teams were just awful, I can at least believe Maxie wanted to kill everything though.

Team aqua and magma were pretty stupid. I liked their designs and hideouts though. My favorite was skull because they're self aware. One even admits he has low self confidence and another goes and mentions how all of team skull failed their island challenge.

Their end goals were really similar. Cyrus was an emotional retard from his Japanese upbringing and saw emotions as fundamentally flawed, so he wanted to become god and essentially remove them from the universe. Basically like your average /r9k/ user.

Lysandre was a billionaire philanthropist who tried helping the masses with his technology, but realized earth could never become his idealistic socialist utopia, so he decided to cause a genocide and keep his free-thinking party of young rich people from ever falling into that inequality of resources again. Basically your average 3rd world shithole charismatic leader.

They're both complete nutters, but Lysandre made a little more sense as a villain to me, I guess. Cyrus felt a little too outlandish in comparison.

Gen 1 and Giovanni hands down. He was a relateable realistic take on real life criminals that had a past, motives, and reasons for doing things. He didn't feel or act like a generic cartoon villain who wanted to do something really large for some crazy reason, he was just a man who turned to crime who loved pokemon as much as you. Also, he perfectly mirrored the mc in ideals and feel, which was hard to do with the technological limits of the time.

Ghetsis; the guy was absolutely evil (unlike Giovanni who had some good in him), completely emasculated Alder, walked around in an evil trench-coat, raised some orphan kid for 18 years just to use him, had one of the strongest teams you ever fought, had a personal squad of assassins, and STILL managed to get away with it and retire happily

Flare followed by Rocket.
I can respect Lysandre for wanting to kill the French but his team was dumb as hell. Rocket is just kind of basic and bland. Neo Rocket was much better. They felt like actual antagonists then and went so far as to kidnap a tower full of people and pokemon to prove their point.

I like a lot. Aqua and Magma would have indirectly exterminated the human race so that'd good but Galactic wins and maybe Aether. Cyrus did not pussyfoot around and had probably the greatest plan ever. You seriously cannot fuck with a guy who not only planned on wiping and remaking the universe but came close to getting that fucking power.
I despise Lusamine but damn if she was not like Cyrus unhinged. She was appropriately cruel and fitting for a villain. Guzma is pretty fucking rad but he's really better suited as an antihero with some anger issues than a lead antagonist.

Plasma. I am not a PETAfag and would nuke PETA faster than Kim Tiny-Dong Un but I am big on animals and on pokemon. I know the difference but still like both and find them to be the most agreeable. Colress is a husbando and N is not only that but probably the most agreeable human to me. Not to mention Ghetsis' plan I found brilliant. Use a nice guy figurehead like N to win people over by being someone pokemon themselves generally like. If that's not enough him being fucking "pure" or
"chosen" or whatever gay word you want to use enough to revive and command an actual legendary pokemon makes for piss easy propaganda for convincing people to release their pokemon and be more defenseless. Then when that backfired when N lost have a backup plan and freeze every motherfucker who disagrees to you and bring a region to its knees. Cyrus is the stronger antagonist and sure Maxie and Archie are the ones to get what they want, but I find myself still being a Plasmafag in the end. Skull is number 2. A gang for broken souls to have meaning with two leaders I like.

When I played Ruby I thought team aqua were police officers. I was that stupid, I didn't even know the other game existed.

Plasma's plot was brilliant. They posed as a PETA group to stop anyone from stopping them while they built up their numbers, summoned a Dragon, made an example out of the Pokemon League, then nearly got away with releasing everyone's Pokemon so nobody would be strong enough to stop them from using the dragon to enforce their new ownership of Unova.

Meanwhile, Aqua, Magma, and Galactic had the worst plans. Those guys did nothing but try to use power they didn't understand.

Always been a fan of Galactic because Cyrus was truly crazy and used his underlings to achieve an insane dream while keeping them duped that they would be a part of it. They all thought they were going to create a new kind of energy through controlling Dialga and Palkia and rake in the dosh. Plus, the climax at the Spear Pillar is one of my favorite moments in Pokémon, especially when your rival shows up and you team up against Mars and Jupiter.

Resetting the world was Aqua's new motivation in ORAS, because someone had the good sense to realize their origin motivation was stupid. Now they just want to create hurricanes and floods and shit to ruin civilization enough that humans need to go back to relying on nature for a while, so they remember that it's important and stop destroying it. What they don't realize is that Primal Kyogre's idea of putting things back to basics is flooding the entire Earth and killing everything.

I mean, it's not great, but the staff at least tried to rework things without changing them too much.

You can gleam from Tabitha's dialog that he wasn't taken seriously as a scientist and joined up with Maxie because he was the only person who would treat him with the respect he felt he deserved.

Courtney, on the other hand, was just some nutjob who was obsessed with Maxie. Even he didn't seem to know much about her as a person until Delta episode, when she finally opened up to him.

I really like some details of Flare's plot, but ultimately it requires you to connect too many dots on your own and Lysandre's experiences aren't shown well or expressed through the world. Rocket is the actual best, just because it's hard to fuck up straight mafia.

BW1 Plasma just does not work at all in the context of the world they had presented up until that point, only in hindsight with things shown in the worlds of the later games does their cover story seem like something people in the world would legitimately fall for. Ignoring my personal annoyances, RSE Aqua is the dumbest by far, hey the world's already 70% water, let's flood it even more. ORAS Aqua at least has the implication all this is just because Archie really just wants to see Jirachi again, at least then he can be a madman fueled by his personal relationships and emotions.

Yeah same here. I really want to know exactly what it was about. My only guess is it was a team with a prototype of the Project AZOTH which later Maxie and Archie took for their own ends. Sadly we will never know because GF hates to expand on mysteries that left open on previous games.
