I know by the time you started playing Pokemon all the mystery was gone and the entire game was datamined 5 minutes after announcement but for those of us who've been around for the whole thing Megas are amazing.

Unless you're talking about the anime, that's happened exactly once. With Pokemon Ride. And if you hate Charizard being a ridemon so much, but you must also now hate Lapras, Machamp, Tauros, Latias and the rest, because the were also "pushed in your face".
