I honestly couldn't believe how evil they portrayed Necrozma. No Pokémon has ever been depicted as this evil. (Don't say Hoopa it was the bottle that turned it evil, Don't say Giritina it loved Shaymin.)

Gonna repost my Necrozma theory from old ore threads, since some new stuff came up

Just like how Solgaleo is based off the Lion Eating the Sun in Alchemy, I think Necrozma is based off a Magnum Opus in Alchemy,

So in Alchemy, there are 4 steps to create the Magnum Opus, or philosophers stone which could represent Necrozma, or what he's trying to do

Nigredo - Blackness, "the dark night of the soul, when an individual confronts the shadow within"
>Necrozma

Albedo - Whiteness, the washing away of impurities
>Ultra Lunala

Citrinitas - Yellowness, transmutation of silver into gold, stood for the dawning of the "solar light" inherent in one's being, and that the reflective "lunar or soul light" was no longer necessary
>Ultra Solgaleo

Rubedo - Redness, signalled alchemical success, and the end of the great work

Maybe Necrozma as we know him, is an incomplete husk since he's been away from Ultra Space for so long, he looks like one,
Maybe his plan is to regain his perfect form, his magnum opus, and absorbing Solgaleo and Lunala are phases of that

Since I posted that the first time, we got a hint of Necrozma gaining a new shining form on the cover art, and now this whole ominous red background, plus we know that the forms are actually Necrozma instead of Solgaleo/Lunala using him as armour

I said they thrive, not that they fit in. The ultra dimension doesn't have electricity or mountains for xurkitree or guzzlord to eat, kartana loves to slice down our steel buildings that they don't have, buzzwole can pick fights with loads of people, etc.

To be fair pokemon has never really lacked dark or mature tones. What they lack is smart writing and identifiable characters.

The worst part is people use the "its for children" excuse for letting this slide when its such a weak argument to have. Currently pokemon writes its story and plot on the level of the Care Bears, where people are just way to overly nice and you dont really end up caring whats going on, when really they should be writing at more of a Anamaniacs or The Amazing World of Gumball level. You can have things that are aimed at a younger audience with an adult edge that everyone can enjoy, which I think is what GF would really want if they weren't so utterly lazy all the time. We have had genocides and wars and near end of the worlds etc. Even Sun and moon dove into abusive families. But none of it feels real or interesting because the characters are so 2 dimensional and written in a "Everyone's a winner" kind of way, rather then trying to compliment the story.
