I like Gourgiest but I prefer Pumpkaboo since it's the most Halloweeny Pokemon out there being a Jack O' Lantern, a bat and a black cat all in one. I wish Gourgiest still had the hybridization of Halloween imagery like Pumpkaboo has.

I also wish Gourgiest had a more Tim Burton feel like Pumpkaboo seems to have, something like this >>33513836

Gengar is my favorite Ghost type and my favorite Pokemon period and always will be.

I really like Gourgeist since it reminds me of Halloween, my favorite holiday. Used it in my XY playthrough and it was both fun and useful.

Ghost-types are my favorite types. Particularly love Spiritomb, Mismagius, Froslass, and Mimikyu.

Second favorite Ghost type. I wish it could utilize its fire moves more with higher special attack.

i like dhelmise... i bred for a shiny one, shame its body turns green for the anchor shot animation
my most favorite is gengar... i also bred for a shiny gengar, its shiny mega form looks great
i would say my least favorite is decidueye, not a fan of its stats and design

Mimikyu and Dhelmise were good additions to ghost type, which lacked cool pokemon other than Gengar.

I don't like it much. It's design's too weird for my liking. Also doesn't help that I don't like Ghost types.

Its counterpart, Trevanant, is really cool, though.

It's in my top three favorite ghost types, though the order of these three switches constantly.
I never thought much of it until my X&Y nuzlocke where I managed to find a large one and she became a fucking beast. Hit hard and had the health to tank hits while I healed my team. I barely beat that nuzlocke too, lost my Tyrantrum and Quagsire to the league and then lost my Greninja to the champ. In the end my Gourgeist, Hawlucha, and Heliolisk reigned supreme

Gourgeist is pretty cool, I think I prefer Pumpkaboo though. Definitely my favorite of the Ghost/Grass lines.

Favorite Ghost-type would have to be Haunter/Gengar or Sableye.

I'll never understand what is it about pumpkaboo that makes so many people preffer it over its evolution. Don't get me wrong I like it too, but gourgeist is just the ghost type I've been waiting for since gen 1:
>Halloween-related, even has a halloween-related signature move
>Unique size gimmick
>THAT cry
>New, interesting type combo (at least at the time of its introduction, made a cool pair with trevenant)
>Grass-type with coverage fire moves
>Leech seed/Will-o-Wisp/Phantom Force/Synthesis stall
>Supersize's fat ass walls the shit out of any physical attacker
>Stats are not bad by any stretch of imagination

I would preffer if it got flash fire or prankster as abilities, and that it could use its special movepool, but so far so good for me.

Love it, one of my favorite Ghost types and overall favorite Pokemon. I like how they made its design kind of cute yet still creepy, anyone else would've just made it a generic spooky scary pumpkin monster like pic related.

Also helps that I love Halloween, love both Grass and Ghost types, and like tanky mons. Just wish they got rid of the stupid size gimmick (who cares about S/M/L Gourgeist?) and trade evos are annoying.

Gourgeist is a nice pokemon. It hits hard and tanks well.

My favourite ghost Pokemon is Chandelure. It's just so... ominous. It's my answer when people say gen 5 is shit, or that inanimate pokemon are shit.

Its size gimmick is a waste, such a great idea stucked forever in a single mon. I think it's cute tho.

Favourite ghost mons are Gengar, Trevenant, Mimikyu, Shedinja

I like Gourgeist, but my favourite one is Trevenant, followed by Misdreavus, Cofagrigus and Haunter.

Love it and all of the other Grass/Ghost types. Favorites are Dhelmise, Mismagius, Gourgeist, Trevenant and Cofagrigus.

Dhelmise ! Excellent surprise as a ghost pokemon ! Has access to strong physical moves and Rapid Spin, I love this fucker <3

Trick Or Treat plus ghost STAB's fun, kinda like Soak Chinchou/Lanturn. Z-Trick or Treat's not bad either and I like that the sizes have different stats.

Golurk's my favorite Ghost Type.

Definitely one of my favorite ghosts. I love Halloween aesthetics so it caught my eye immediately. Plus I had a super sized one on my X team and it was the juggernaut of my party.

Too favorite ghosts are Banette, Gourgeist, Golurk, Mimikyu, and Decidueye

So I've been gone from /vp/ a few days, and I was gonna make a thread saying Gourgeist and Pumpkaboo were underrated, and was super surprised it already existed.

I wish Pickup had a buff, I like that it has it because of trick-or-treating. Also I realized recently it might be a trade evolution as a reference to kids trading their Halloween candy. Its really an oversight that it doesn't learn Perish Song for flavor. Flash Fire might be neat, I'm not in the camp saying Gourgeist should be Grass/Fire or Ghost/Fire though. It's type is perfect.

Overall Gourgeist embodies the spirit of halloween and does it very well in my opinion. I feel that people were disappointed with this pokémon line, solely because there are many different ways you can do a jack-o-lantern and this just wasn't what people had in mind. Do not let that distract you from Gourgeist's awesomeness though.

Pumpkaboo is definitely meant to look like a Halloween bat, just look
exclusively at its upper brown half. It even has little fangs.

Never thought of the black cat thing, I think that's a coincidence but I love that it totally brings black cats to mind.

Chandelure has been my bro since the day pokemon black came out though. Not the most viable dude but I'm a sucker for fire and ghost typing, and the design is great.

Mimikyuu and Gengar are tied for close second.

needed to be a damn special attacker and the size gimmick annoys me given that its counterpart, trevenant, doesn't have this. I get gourds are entered in contests on size etc., they still should have given Trevenent a comparable gimmick such as different wood or foliage.

It is just such a fucking crime that it isn't a special attacker- a Grass type with Fire type coverage would have been unique too- especially if they gave it flash fire, that would have been perfect.
