If "esports" players couldn't gen they'd have their friends/supporters or worst case pay other people to train their Pokemon for them.

TCG pro players don't buy boosters and slowly trade their way through their decks, they just buy the cards they want or full decks and go to competitions.

Try again. Breeding/training isn't skillful, it's a waste of time. I'm saying this as someone who obtains all the Pokemon he uses legitimately (because I find it relaxing/it helps me fall asleep at night), I don't give a fuck how anyone else gets their Pokemon, and I definitely don't whine when I lose to someone because they "cheated" their Pokemon into the game.

Rational debates are shorter and cause less of a ruckus, the screaming matches between 14 year olds have way more visibility because they take up entire threads. It's a "vocal minority" deal, like how everyone thinks using Tumblr makes you a middle school feminazi, or that using 4chan means you're a basement dwelling neo-nazi with no social life. Because those people do exist, and they're much louder than the average person.
