Because it is full of autistic children and manchildren that play by smogon rules. They're are weak people here who follow the status quo and use "whatever's good" so they can call themselves a Pokemon 'master' and jack up their egos past their natural abilities. They autistically spout that their 'team' is the best when it is practically just like every other team with little or no variation. Just like how you have sheeple voting in your rigged elections, there is a mindless mass of people who latch onto these games like a tumor. They are the people who tell you that it is wrong to choose a team based on the designs you like the most. You are a healthy cell and they are the cancer. They cannot mentally process that someone is so drastically different than them, so they lash out. I would recommend that you simply ignore them so that you do not become a part of the cancer itself. This is one part of your individuality that you do not want to let go of. Your Pokemon will thank you.

No one really has a problem with people who play with their favorites. The problem is whenever a thread like this pops up its almost always coupled qith some kind of anti competitive claim to it. Both sides have their share of extremists that tend to demand people only play the game their way.
