Kanto pandering is a bit ridiculous when you realize that each gen sold at least 25 million copies. That means people like Pokemon in general, not just first gen.

Well, gen 1 games sold over 40 million units. Literally almost twice the average you claimed. And all with just 2 sets of games, whereas other gens have way more.


Lets be frank, ORAS is the best selling remake largely because it had the most hype pre release, and just the fact remakes have been getting more and more popular with the fanbase over time. And even then, it sold just about a little over a million than the last. Give a gen 1 remake that level of advertisement and it would have outsold ORAS.

Kanto pandering is always going to be a thing, probably. It is where the journey started (both game and anime series). Kids watching the show today are most likely not familiar with that beginning, so why not pander a bit to old fans while familiarizing children with the roots? It gives the show a wider audience for a bit potentially, which isn't a bad business move.

Kanto is the original game just fucking deal with it. You should feel lucky for any attention other gens get, they're all supplements for the number 1 gen

Actually, BW are the worst selling first version games. They sold the worst on the DS too which had almost double the install base that the GBA had. Compare this to the 3DS games which have all sold comparably despite having a much wore install base.
