For it to be timid the last too digits of its experience need to be 10, 35, 60 or 85. There's a chart out there somewhere with all that information.

But yeah, it was kind of trial and error for me. I fainted a lot of Pidgeys to get it right because I didn't know how much exp they gave. Eventually I got it so the last digits were 10. Like an idiot, I then leveled it up with two rare candies because level grinding in Sun and Moon is a pain in the ass. I realized that I might have screwed up the nature mid transfer, but when I checked it was somehow timid nature. The rare candies made its exp go from 10 to 60. I got pretty damn lucky with that.

honestly very hard. You need the destiny knot to ensure that as you breed and get offspring with better ivs than the parents you can then pass that on until you get perfect. Throw almost all of your mons and breedjects in the bank for a while for easy bp to get the destiny knot.
