Swalot is my second favorite. It's a decent stall mon with good defensive typing. I like to give it Earthquake so it can deal with steel types that come out.

I was going to post Maractus or Carnivine but both have a niche following so I guess Basculin will do. I would have liked to have used one on a team once but they are just so fucking dull.

Swanna and Swalot are great choices. While they're not necessarily outclassed, they aren't specialised enough to be really usable. Swanna's low mixed attacking stats aren't compensated for with a high speed (98 isn't high), and Swalot's mixed bulk is let down by lack of good status spreading (like Weezing) or offensive pressure (Muk) so why would you use either? Especially now that Pelipper has Drizzle, there's just no reason to use Swanna.

Water types fall into this trap the most - Dewgong, Kingler, Seaking, Corsola, Octillery, Wailord, Whiscash, Walrein, Huntail, Relicanth, Luvdisc, Phione, Basculin: they all have better alternatives, even if they're relatively unique.

Alas, it does not. No matter how you look at it, there's nothing spectacular about Swalot combat-wise. A pure poison type can be a real asset to in-game teams what with Fairy type being top dog these days.
