I'm fine with certain snowflake mons like Lucario, or Zoroark getting special treatment. But Starters should be treated equal, so that the player's decision isn't as influenced by outside factors. Things like one starter getting into Smash bros, getting its own special form, 2 megas, and an ova dedicated to one over the others loses that concept of equal choice.

Thus far, Gen 5 is the only gen where each starter was marketed and treated on an equal level, with no discerning favoritsim. Say what you will about their designs and usefulness in battle, they got that right atleast.

As for promoting certain pokemon more than others, are you simply that inept to not understand WHY some pokemon get more promoted than others?

It's like asking why are there way more Apples than Soursops in shops. There are more Apples because a shit-ton more people want Apples instead of Soursop. In most cases it isn't some inflated bias or conspiracy. It's just demographics.

If a starter turns out to be the pokemon of the gen that people like the most, then it's absolutely okay for them to give people more of what they want. They'd be stupid not to do so.
