Jesus fucking christ. How do you guys not get this yet? The point of baby Pokemon were to introduce Pokemon lines early game rather than mid-late game. For example, Magby would be introduced where a Magmar would be deemed to strong at that point in the game. This is why Togepi, Riolu, Munchlax, Mantyke, Elekid, Magby, Bonsly, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Mime Jr., Chingling, Wynaut, Happiny, and Budew are all good in concept.

Pichu, Igglybuff, Cleffa, and Azurill are wastes of space though because their base forms are already balanced for early game.

Gamefreak still fucks up with this though.

But they never actually did this until BW2. And you can catch Magmar right after the third gym in GSC. So no, not really.

not really. XY only used Azurill, and Marill is weak enough you could just give it early game and it wouldn't really matter at all

ORAS had no baby Pokemon distributed regularly in the wild

SM only used Pichu, which again, doesn't matter because Pikachu was available before the first gym in the originals
