Interesting stuff here:

With only one exception, the top mons of each type are either highly prominent (starter, Eeveelution, Lucario archetype) or really powerful ingame and/or competitively. The sole outlier? Luxray, often cited as a mon people wish was more of a competitive force. Hold out for Luxraium Z, guys.

Gengar is the only mon to top the chart in both of its types, though Crobat is breathing down its neck in Poison.

Ranks 2-5 in Fairy all show up in the top 5 in their other type as well. Ranks 2-4 in Steel do the same.

The entirety of the Top 5 in Grass is starters. Compare that to two each in Fire and Water.
Speaking of which, Charizard actually isn't running away with Fire, holding the tiniest of leads over Arcanine, of all things. Either there's been some vote skewing, or people really like their doggos.

The single most lopsided type shouldn't surprise anyone. Between its regular (#1) and Mega (#2) forms, Lucario has 20.7% of the Fighting votes. Runner-up Blaziken doesn't even have 1/4 of that!

Speaking of multi-form mons, the Lycanrocs took 2nd and 3rd in a type that admittedly doesn't have a whole lot of standouts. If you were to combine them, they'd have 12.6% of the Rock vote, a greater percent than the top vote getter in 13 of the 18 types. Still wouldn't take Rock's top spot, though; the perennial competitive force that is Tyranitar still rules that roost.

Gen 7 as a whole has a really good showing. In addition to the Lycanrocs, Decidueye sits at 2nd in Grass behind only Sceptile, Silvally took 4th in Normal, Salazzle got 4th herself in Poison, and Mimikyu took 2nd in Ghost and Fairy. But the best showing of them? Alolan Ninetales, taking the top spot as the new favorite Ice type while also sneaking into Fairy as well!

Despite how often we see people trying to pigeonhole the Dark type, the top four Dark mons are all non-malicious. One of them's even outright benevolent!

Eeveelutions turned out in spades, with four taking 1st in their type and three others sitting at 3rd in theirs! Leafeon and Flareon are the only ones missing, though it likely has to do with how competitive their types are.

Meanwhile, not a single legendary took first in their type, and only seven have showed up at all! The highest up is Lugia, 2nd place in Flying behind early route powerhouse Staraptor.

Only two base form mons made the cut. Eevee took the top spot in Normal--no surprise there--but the eyebrow-raiser is Bulbasaur somehow getting to 3rd in Grass. Where's the rest of its line? Where're Charmander and Squirtle? Good questions.

Three middle stagers made it in. Pikachu is, once again, no surprise, but Haunter snuck in at 5th in Ghost and Dragonair made it all the way to 3rd in the tough room that is the Dragon type! Interestingly, their final forms are both 1st in those types.

And finally:

Will it ever be topped? It was the most popular grass type on the reddit poll, too. Even then it's the least chosen of the Hoenn starters, which says a lot about how good all three of them are, despite the fact that swampert didn't make the cut on this new favorite maker website.
