Is this the perfect scheme for all types fitting into a related trifecta with 2 other types?

Flying type would fit with Nature more, since Flying = Birds also Air which is a force of nature.
I've tried this is a the past, Water and Ice are the odd ones out.

Poison is a stretch, I agree. Could maybe swap it with Fighting, since most Fighting-types are based on human fighting styles.
Water, Ground and Flying could be grouped as a land, air and sea sort of thing. That would free up ice to group up with rock and steel in a "things that are hard" group, or alternatively an "original Regi types" group.

If Bug Buzz can be Bug/Sound type why can't Fire Punch be Fire/Punch type? There are also abilities that interact specifically with the vast array of Punch moves and several mons themed around punching which could feasibly be retyped.

No it isn't, otherwise Iron Fist would boost all Fighting-type moves.
I'd just do physical (Fighting, Ground, Rock), energy (water, fire, grass, electric) and mythical (ghost, fairy, dragon)

Punching is an action just like tackling and headbutting. It can't be a type because that kind of logic could apply to basically everything type of physical interaction. Sound isn't simply an action just like fire isn't simply an action. which explains why sound type is a lot more feasible as a type compared to punching type.
