2000 was the Orange Islands movie, anon. The third was the first 2nd gen movie and Heroes was the last 2nd gen movie and the best.

It's possible to have lived through pokemania, become a huge Pokemon fan, but really dislike the anime. As a kid I played through blue before seeing any of the anime. Upon seeing it the tone felt so different than what I imagined and the pokemon saying their own names was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard. So I kept playing the games and collecting the cards and payed no mind to the anime.

I played the games more than I watched the anime.

To this day I still haven't seen the Entei, Celebi and Latios/Latias movies but I did see everything else after.

I had the 3rd movie on VHS, it was nearly the first VHS I ever had
And it's still my favorite Pokemon movie, I watched them all from the Mewtwo strikes back till the Zoroark one
Also, surprisingly, the Russian dub did a lot for this movie. The voices have much more emotions to them, comparing to the English dub. Especially in the scene where Entei struggles to fight Unown and screams "Molly!" at the end. Fits the background music so well

THe First Movie was really the only movie worth seeing in theaters. it had that thing where it's based on something that's comedic and fun on tv, but goes dramatic or epic when its a movie. like the Rugrats Movie, South Park, Casper, A Goofy Movie, etc.

I loved the movie as a child, but it does have quite a few more flaws as well. I like it for nostalgia, but it's not a very good movie. Not the worst Pokemon movie, but far from the best.
