I like it. A hell of a lot better than any starter in gens 4 - 7.

OP here. I don't follow that stupid trend, but if the closest I can think is that the fire starter is very slick and strong, the grass starter is buff and the water is more elegant

Hoping Mouoss/Calfalfa/whatever you call it end up with massive antlers like a Megaloceros.

The Puffin is ok, but I think it's a little flat right now in the sprite. Good simple design that still has stuff going on, otherwise. name it Puffoam?

Not a fan of the pine marten at all... maybe a rabbit instead? Or you could go with a Muskox, it's native to Scandinavia and has a really unique shape. You could probably make its "mane" some sort of fire coat that keeps it warm. But, I'm not the one designing, this is just my opinion.
