I think the point is that somebody would probably not have a Psychic and Fairy type on the same team, because it's redundant.

Fairy deals with Dark, Fighting and Dragon (types that are common), and resists Bugs, while Psychic loses out to Ghost/Dark/Bug

You can't make the same comparison with Flying, since Flying has other uses aside for hitting Fighting types for SE dmg and is overall pretty different in its utility and moves associated with it, while most Fairy types can learn the relevant Psychic moves too
