I sort of agree with you, at least for the first point. I'll try to help my family as much as I can, but a good retirement home is straight-up a better option for the elderly sometimes, especially if you're busy and can't always be home for them. They have around-the-clock care, friends their own age, and they can live their lives without feeling dependent on you. My great-aunt loved her retirement home because of this.
