I hope they somehow combine Trials and Gyms in the future. Trials are definitely more fun/of a challenge gameplay wise, but not having Gyms at all kinda puts me off. I want my classic adventure, dammit.

One thing I wouldn't mind them doing is making you battle the Trial Captain at some point during the trial. Like maybe right before you face the Totem, as a final test of sorts. Not only would it give the captains more to do, not to mention add another component to the trial, it would also be a nice addition for those who miss traditional Gym battles.

I think trials are a great concept, so it wouldn't be a lot of work just to flesh them out a bit.
