I do think the recent emphasis on PvP has made the newer games more limited. That's all that's left to do now after the Single Player is done holding your hand.

PvP is the only thing that pulls Pokemon above its contemporaries on any objective levels, even then if they went all out on balancing for PvP it would result in a more robust single player experience as you and the enemies already play on the exact same rules in single player, if they want to make enemies in-game more threatening give them special rules to rig it in their favor

Unironically agree. They'll never change up the games because any major change would totally fuck over competitive, and the focus is why postgame is weaker and weaker, because "fuck it they can do 3v3's or 4v4's against the same teams over and over."

They clearly design the games with competitive in mind, and they're absolutely infatuated with doubles, so it makes you wonder why there's still only like 3 double battles the entire game. I'm supposed to jump into doubles after the entire game has been singles? Where's the option to play all trainer battles as Doubles?
