The formula they've used for would have been better suited for a new protagonist each region. With all the power resets, taking only Pikachu, and old plots, pokes, and companions written out, imagine if we had Gold/Jimmy for Johto, etc, basically what the Manga does. But Ash is a mascot to the brand now, so like Pikachu, he can't change, and they don't want to have a new protagonist to risk alienating viewers...despite the fact that the primary audience wasn't even born when Kanto finished. So we get this weird mashup with no continuity.

Disappointing. Spent half its time on irrelevant bullshit about the dog. Still somehow managed to be better than both Cocotama and Aikatsu, which had even more disappointing episodes. Poor day overall.

Mallow and Lana should have been the only main girls, with Lillie being a recurring character like a rival who only showed up when her game story was being focused on. Of course get rid of Sophocles too and just have Kiawe.

The huge cast was a big mistake, the show can't juggle 6 main characters plus TR when Ash is always going to get the most focus anyway. So because of that Mallow and Lana get screwed over a bit. Mallow should be billed as the main girl with Lana as secondary.

Because Serena's personality was plain, blend, boring and desperate.
Her chemistry with Ash was even worst.

It always felt like Serena trying to make everyone feel pity for her in other to get more support.

As a character, she was nowhere as good or entertaining as Misty, May and Dawn.
Instate, it would be disappointing if Ash was forced to choose her when there was already 3 better girl that traveled with him.
