If your going with torchic then don't get shroomish cause two fighting type on your team take up slots go with lotad or seedot

Shedinja can cheese a bunch of things, Dodrio hits super hard, Heracross is fun to play with. Torkoal and Pelipper get Protect early and can cheese Norman's gym.

good point. I'd prefer to use shroomish but my second choice was treecko as a starter, I'd prefer not to use mudkip again. I'll probably just do both because it's just going to be a casual run through. forgot lotad, always iked it, so that too.

i recommend catching a lombre near meteor falls because raising a level 2 lotad up is a bit tough.

i used a wobbuffet on my first playthrough, it was a bit tough to raise but it did pretty good on bosses. also the slakoth line is fun, a bit tough at first but later you get strength and hyper beam so its all good.

Starterless run sounds cool, But I don't know if I've ever completed the game with blaziken. I'll see if there are enough others to drop the starter completely

That make sense emerald is one of those games were you could just beat it with just your starter IMO, Look through the hoenn dex and look for some pokemon you like.

Are there enough grass types to have a fun mono grass team? I already want to use Treecko, Cacturn, Ludicolo, and Breloom. Roselia could be interesting, too
