They might actually be telling the truth. I've gotten Pokérus by the second Gym (or Gym-like thing in the case of Alola) in every save file since my first Emerald save file (and in Emerald I always have it by the time I reached Rustboro, by the way).

I've never seen the island either in at least 12,000 hours spent playing Emerald after nearly 2000 in Ruby and Sapphire, but considering my experience, and taking into account Pokérus is about twice as rare at 1 in ~21,845 it wouldn't surprise me if they were the me counterpart for the island.

I think that says "du", they need a certain character beforehand to make "d" into "4", and then another to make "u" into "U".
Different converters gave me different results but this one seems correct to me since another one had the character that makes it stop reading as numbers, but neither "u" or the capital character can be read as a number as far as I know.
I spent half an hour learning basic braille so I might as well put it to some use
