I wouldn't call it laziness, there's still a whole design process that goes into their creation and it's not like the dragon pdeudos are copy pasted. Dragons are just the "cool" powerful types and the go-to for big STATS even though the last 2 pseudos we got were underwhelming. I do agree that volcarona should have been a pseudo alongside hydreigon since it has the pseudo look. Gamefreak is just consistent then inconsistent with trends, almost like several people are working on the designs

Volcarona is meant to be its own archetype, like an anti-pseudo. While pseudos are otherwise com-mons with legendary-tier stats, Volcarona is a com-mon treated like a legendary.

Same and it was rather disappointing. When they first revealed it, it had such a nice griffon-ish vibe and then it turns into GanjaKnight Dragon.

I still like it but it's pretty meh compared to what could have been.
