the difference between midnight and midday is its color scheme, its mane and it stands. the dusk form has a different color scheme (but red eyes when attacking like midnight) and mix of the mane. It would be ridiculous if it would also stand on 3 legs (between 2 and 4)....

Aside from coloration midnight is bipedal, has larger paws, has different ears, has more teeth than both midday and dusk, and has different tail.

Dusk is literally midday with a horn on its head.

Eevee is different species. Primal forms are temporary, Hoopa is temporary, Meloetta, Keldeo, etc can turn back into those forms since they're not evolutions.
If Espeon and Umbreon were released back in GS and then a brand new "dusk" form was teased and hyped for Crystal, and it was just Espeon with rings and orange I think people would be just as angry. That's the closest comparison I can think of, even though Espeon and Umbreon are different species.

Its because its just a pallette swap and the horn back-hair thingy of midnight, This is the most laziest form they made. A 50/50 design should be done if theyre telling that is a collaboration of night and day.

Dusk Lycan is just Midday Lycan with the Midnight horn. And the utility of this horn will be the same at the midnight form: nothing.

If the Pokemon wasnt just a Midday recolor and had a brand new sprite/model people would be way less hostile.
